Melissa Orion is an Inspire Captain, rallying community to create next level experience around the world. Embracing her training in visual and performance art and improv theater, she prescribes to a mentality of ‘living the bliss of the moment’ while making the next moment even brighter. Orion is a singer, actress, performer, poet, writer, painter, designer, and laughter enthusiast, currently stationed in Ashland OR. She creates INSPIRING entertainment for all the senses. She is also the Captain of “A Street Car Named Inspire”, a mobile inspiration unit which catalyzes community creative potential.
Melissa Orion is a Professional Inspirer born of stardust and magic! She has honed the art of living an IMPROV LIFE and is dedicated to sharing her unique brand of inspiration with the far reaches of the Universe.
Born (for the first time) in Portland Oregon, Orion spent much of her time outdoors and in the company of an eclectic array of musicians, circus performers and community activists turned architects. She has worked directly within the festival creation worlds and has collaborated with all sorts of artists musically and visually.
About Painting Series
Orion’s current passion has been focused on developing her painting style. She has been a painter since her mid teens and took a break during her late twenties to focus on performance art. Over the last year she picked back up the brush and has created a series of pieces inspired by her inner child and the pregnancy of her second son Jackson. Most of these new works were completed in only one day in an effort to overcome her fear of ‘finishing’.
‘I saw a pattern stretching over many areas of my life. An inability to push through the times when I felt stuck or uninspired. I would put something I was working on down, and hope to come back to it someday when I was inspired again. Within the ‘One a Day’ approach, abandoning a project wasn’t an option. I HAD to push through the blocks and finish by the end of the day. Through this process I have learned invaluable lessons that transcend my art and have made me a better person in all areas of my life. I have honed a special power inside myself. I look forward to continuing to create in this way.’
