From Waste to Oasis

PLAN

To implement composting in the households of Sedona, and the surrounding towns. This will minimize waste and create new life in the form of organic soil, which is optimal for growing. The curing of this soil will be aided with microorganisms to transmute the makeup of the soil, giving it what it needs to be organic and more fertile.

Each week, participants will be provided with an empty bin to fill with their kitchen scraps. At the end of the week, the bins will be picked up and brought to our composting facility, where they will cure and become organic soil. The bins will be replaced at time of pickup.

Customers will be provided with information on composting; what to compost and what not to compost. We will provide them with statistics of current waste, and the reduction of that waste when we are actively composting. We will provide them with information on the benefits of organic soil, and our even more long-term plan of being able to provide this soil, as well as using it ourselves to grow organic food and herbs.

Customers will pay X amount for their first month (slightly more, for the bin), and X amount for the months to follow. We will provide a paypal or online payment option on our website.

FUNDRAISING

We will host events on our land to raise awareness, funding, and FUN! Possibly 3 day events. The first two days will be full of workshops and projects, and the last will be a festival celebrating the knowledge and creation of the previous days. These will be CHEM FREE events (no un-earthly substances).

BARTER AND TRADE FEST

Participants will be encouraged to bring their craft, and to teach workshops on making their craft. Workshops will take place on the first day or two, followed by a festival of BARTER AND TRADE. Whomever may choose can set up a booth, or simply lay out a blanket. Money can be accepted if agreed upon, however the focus will be largely on trade. This will give a real life example of the ease this new paradigm will bring.

BREAKING OUT

Participants will be encouraged to PLAY. There will be workshops on the importance of the inner child, so often forgotten under the stresses of our current paradigm. There will be a workshop focused on getting in touch with one’s inner child through writing exercises. There will be MANY workshops of play: hooping, juggling, fire dancing, music, collaborative canvases. The last day will then be a festival of performance of these trades, an open-mic, and an art showing of the pieces created during the event.
