FOLLOWUP:
Gathering of the Ages was “An InterGenerational Equinox Celebration of Indigenous Wisdom in Contemporary Times” held on September 21-23, 2012 at the majestic and beautiful Ojai Foundation Land Sanctuary. Organized by the Ojai Foundation in partnership with LA Tribal Convergence Network and Sacred Senses, some of the highlights included: Living Peace Walk, Equinox Sunrise Ceremony, Learning Circles with Wisdom Keepers, Youth & Elder Council (Awakening Youth Leadership), Sunrise Yoga, Shamanic Breathwork by Michael Brian Baker and soulful devotional music by Avari.
It was truly amazing to see wisdom keepers and shamanic elders from eight different global traditions such as Siberian Shamanism, Japanese Shinto, Peruvian Inka Curandero (healer) and the local Chumash (native to the Ojai valley). The gathering was centered around the heart of community, wisdom sharing and rites of passage in these great times of purification and transformation. The wisdom keepers were impressed by the heart conscious wisdom of participating youth and support the deepening of our relations.
LA Tribal Convergence Network has been invited back to collaborate with the Ojai Foundation for a Summer Solstice celebration to take place in June 2013. We embrace the opportunity to explore ways to support more youth participation through sponsorships and work-trade opportunities. We look forward to helping keep these sacred traditions alive and accessible to our future generations.
